Many people might be reluctant to purchase things online - including prepaid phone cards. Despite that, more and more individuals are beginning to understand that this method is rather safe and reliable.
In fact, it is now believed that online shopping is one of the safest methods. And this goes for buying online phone cards as well. Still, there are a few things you need to take into consideration to make sure your transaction is safe and your data is not revealed to unauthorized parties:
1. Make sure the merchandiser is using a certified encryption to process your credit card data. Usually, this is done by the industry's standard 256-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption, which is provided by a third party contracted by the merchandiser. On www.bananacall.com, all transactions are encrypted by Thawte®, a trusted provider, accounting for almost 40% of the global SSL market. One easy way for you to recognize Banana Call's certification is to observe the seal that is present on the ordering form. This is a branded image that depicts a lock, along with the writing "thawte" next to the lock.
2. Especially when using a shared computer, avoid using the "Save Password" option if prompted. If you use this feature, you're only making it easier for other people to access your online BananaCall account. This can lead to unwanted orders being placed in your name - although all orders on BananaCall are confirmed by phone. However, to avoid unnecessary troubles, don't save your passwords on shared PCs.
3. Don't forget to log off the website after you've completed your purchase and/or got all the information you needed. This way, you avoid the risks of other people viewing your information, such as PIN number, calling history, recharge history on your international calling plan, and so on.
Generally speaking, you should stay away from websites that have not been around for long AND look a bit suspicious. Other than that, if you pay attention to the 3 things explained above, you should have no problems with online purchases of phone cards. Besides, getting and recharging your calling cards online is much more convenient than buying them in a store, for the following reasons:
